7. Cafe Furniture: Designer chic for a new breed of Business Centre
|
|
Brief: The Quadrant is an exciting new development in the heart of Sheffield attracting businesses for short and medium term office leases. The requirement was to provide a visually stimulating and ergonomic range of café and reception furniture for communal areas that would blend in with a brand new, cutting edge business centre. This included providing innovative furniture and storage solutions for individual offices, meeting rooms and boardroom areas, with an emphasis on design for today.
Design. The building is a triumph of both design and functionality. Each high tech office opens onto a glazed atrium and communal corridor called ‘The Street’ where informal meeting areas are defined by luxurious sofas for informal networking. The flexible conference rooms on each floor have been fitted out with a contemporary range of Italian designed furniture supplied by Domino.
Show Suites. We were also asked to provide two individual show suites to demonstrate to prospective tenants the potential for the space on offer. A suite of Maple Stream desking with vibrant bright red storage units and translucent screens complements the natural light which floods each room and a separate suite with a Cherry and steel combination and Luxy seating gives clean lines and a modern finish.
Space Planning. It was difficult to comprehend the overall impact the choice of furniture would have on the available space whilst the building was still under construction. To help our client decide on the final choice of furniture, we provided a space plan and 3D visual representation for the communal areas. Lucy Andrews, Development Manager commented that it not only helped clarify the overall effect it really helped to ensure that the right quantities were ordered to suit the size of the spaces.
What our client said. The Quadrant was thrilled with the quality and design of the furniture supplied but also with the delivery and installation, carried out whilst the building project was still in progress. “The furniture looks really modern and effective in the café and reception areas and the meeting rooms have a high quality look and feel. At the final crucial stages of the whole project Domino’s installers were really helpful and managed to work around us and the builders and stayed cool under the pressure!” Lucy Andrews, Development Manager
